Areas of Expertise
Andrew Pilcher, PT, is a specialist performing arts physical therapist with more than two decades of international experience supporting performers across London’s West End, Melbourne’s arts precinct, Broadway USA, and national touring productions, television, film, concerts, dance companies, recording artists, and actors.
His work focuses on the physical demands of performance — from voice and movement to injury prevention, rehabilitation, clinical conditioning, and long-term performer sustainability.
Vocal Physical Therapy
Andrew specializes in manual therapy and rehabilitation for performers experiencing vocal tension, fatigue, reduced resonance, muscle tension dysphonia, and other voice-related physical challenges.
His work in London contributed to the early development of voice-focused physical therapy for singers and professional voice users. He has collaborated with leading vocal coaches and voice professionals across London, Melbourne, Nashville, and the United States to support vocal performance, recovery, and longevity.
Dance, Movement & Performing Arts Medicine
Andrew has worked extensively with dancers, musical theatre performers, acrobats, gymnasts, and high-level movement artists for more than two decades.
His experience includes working with performers connected to the Royal Ballet, Rambert, Tavaziva Dance, London’s West End, Melbourne’s performing arts community, and Broadway and national touring productions in the United States.
He has particular expertise in hypermobility-related conditions, complex movement patterns, recurring injuries, and performance-specific rehabilitation. His approach looks beyond short-term symptom relief to understand why an issue is happening and how the performer can return to work with greater capacity and confidence.
Complex & Longstanding Conditions
Andrew has developed a detailed clinical approach to complex, longstanding, and multi-area physical issues.
Many performers come with problems that have been present for months or years, often involving several connected areas of the body. Andrew’s work draws on manual therapy, movement analysis, fascia-informed treatment, functional training, clinical conditioning, and performer-specific rehabilitation to help identify the deeper patterns contributing to pain, restriction, or reduced performance capacity.
Workshops, Education & Professional Training
Andrew has taught and presented to physical therapists, vocal coaches, singers, dancers, actors, performers, students, faculty, and arts organizations across the UK, Australia, and the United States.
His teaching topics include vocal health, dancer health, injury prevention, touring performer care, clinical conditioning, anatomy and physiology for performers, vocal longevity, and the physical demands of professional performance.
Presentations can be tailored for performers, educators, clinicians, training institutions, and arts organizations.
