ABOUT ANDREW

Specialist Voice, Jaw + Performing Arts Physical Therapist

Andrew Pilcher is a specialist physical therapist with more than two decades of international experience supporting people whose bodies and voices are central to their profession.

His career spans professional theatre, touring music, dance, recording, film and television across the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States.

LONDON AND THE WEST END

Andrew spent nearly a decade working in London’s Harley Street medical community with PhysioEd Medical.

During this time, he supported performers across more than 40 West End productions and worked with professional singers, actors, dancers, musicians, recording artists and other high-demand performers.

His London experience also included performers connected with The Royal Ballet, Rambert and Tavaziva Dance; touring music artists including Coldplay; and film and television environments involving the BBC and Universal.

VOICE & JAW - PHYSICAL THERAPY

Vocal physical therapy is one of Andrew’s key areas of specialization.

He works with singers, actors, recording artists, professional speakers and other professional voice users where physical factors—including tension or restriction through the jaw, neck, throat, ribs and wider body—are affecting vocal function, recovery or reliability.

Andrew has worked in this specialist area since his years in London, collaborating with vocal coaches and voice professionals across London, Melbourne, Nashville and the United States.

His work considers both the immediate physical problem and the professional demands surrounding it: rehearsals, recording sessions, filming, concerts, touring schedules and the need to perform consistently.

MELBOURNE AND PERFORMING-ARTS EDUCATION

Andrew later worked in Melbourne’s arts precinct with Performance Medicine, supporting performers across theatre, music and dance.

He also lectured in anatomy, physiology and dance health at the Victorian College of the Arts, helping performers develop a more practical understanding of their bodies and the physical demands of professional training and performance.

UNITED STATES

Now based in Atlanta, Andrew works with performers, professional voice users and production professionals across the United States.

His U.S. experience includes Broadway and national touring environments, professional theatre, touring music and production support. His clinical work encompasses vocal physical therapy, performing-arts and dance medicine, injury prevention and rehabilitation, complex and recurring injuries, clinical conditioning and return-to-performance preparation.

CLINICAL EDUCATION AND MENTORSHIP

Alongside his work with performers, Andrew has held a senior clinical-education role, training and mentoring U.S.-based physical therapists preparing to support Broadway and national touring productions.

His teaching draws on more than two decades spent inside professional performance environments—not only treating injuries, but understanding what performers and production teams are required to manage around them.

A performer is rarely dealing with only an injury. There is also the voice, the rehearsal, the travel, the production schedule and the next performance. Andrew’s work considers all of those demands when helping someone prepare, recover or return to work.

TRAINING AND PERSPECTIVE

Andrew originally trained at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy.

His further clinical training includes manual and manipulative therapy, Clinical Pilates, clinical conditioning, acupuncture, dry needling and performance-specific rehabilitation.

Andrew also has a personal background in music, singing and acting. That experience gives him a practical understanding of the physical, vocal and creative demands placed on professional performers.
